Social Robotics and Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence may be one of the most fascinating research fields out there, as it centers around technological devices being able to perform tasks that would normally require human intelligence. For example, our smartphones are able to recognize and respond to the voice of their specific user. The subject of social robotics is one of the bigger interests in our research around artificial intelligence. Besides being fascinating creatures, social robots are part of the solution to some of society’s key challenges. For example, well-functioning robots can be useful in targeting loneliness and depression or play a role in helping out people in care-requiring circumstances. Especially given the current and increasing scarcity in health care, research advancing the use of social robotics is highly relevant and important.
