Social media use among women with eating disorder symptoms
Social media are abundantly used for a variety of reasons and with various impact on well-being and body image, especially amongst young people. In this joint project, we investigate various topics among women with eating disorder symptoms, such as social media use and selfie-behavior in relation to eating disorder symptomatology; motives for social media use amongst users of an eating disorder recovery website in relation to their stage of recovery; and the relations the impact of body positivity versus body-ideals content on women’s body self perceptions and well-being. Results might have clinical implications and with these we strive to actively inform healthcare professionals.
